I’ve always tried to adapt my ski backpack to hold camera gear - with little success. As far as camera bags go, this thing has it all. I loved @hank.ski original name for this NBD road gap “Maritime Scare”. Conditions were sub-optimal. The in-run was short, steep, and amongst tight trees. The takeoff was completely blind and sits on the prow of a cliff. All certainly fitting to the name.

For this sequence shot, I wanted to emphasize on the scale of Mt. Hood. To do this I used a technique called “Background Compression” with a longer depth of field (f11) and high zoom (Sony 70x200) to effectively enlarge the background without sacrificing foreground detail.

This is one of the few shots where I came in with a “plan”. So much so that I forgot my tripod mounting plate meaning it was time to practice the ole handheld steady-cam 🤘🏾.

I really enjoyed doing this series with @migrationbrewing to showcase the unique color palettes and trying to attach a natural element. 🍻🍻

For me - the Sony 135mm GM was primarily a portrait lens, but I wanted to get some solid fast glass for the flames/smoke detail. Really psyched with the result!
